The Lanthanides are a group of elements in the Gold series of the periodic table, also called rare earth elements. This part was missing in the "Elements". In this book a description was given of the general themes of the Lanthanides as well as a description of each of these elements and some of their salts. Many cases will make the pictures come alive.Secret Lanthanides describes the use of the Lanthanides and their salts in health and disease. It describes persons in a Lanthanide state and the cure with homeopathic potencies.
The Lanthanides are elements of the periodic system with atom number 57 till 73. The have strong electro-magnetic and light properties.
Autonomy is a major theme, hence the subtitle "Road to independence". The search for freedom can lead to a spiritual development and desire for self-control. The Lanthanides are needed for leading ones own life, going ones own way. It's the road to individuality and individuation.
The psychological separation is physically reflected in the immune system and auto-immune diseases. The immune system separates own tissue from foreign substances, it has to find out what is its own.
"It is indeed a pleasure and honor to write this foreword to Jan Scholten's latest work, "The Secret Lanthanides". I am sure that like his earlier works, this one too will be very useful to the profession. The smile on the face of a successfully treated case is the main reward for such work."
"Jan Scholten's discovery of the Lanthanides as homeopathic remedies has given us even more tools to cure profound pathology. After hearing his initial lectures on the Lanthanides and, subsequently prescribing some of them, I am delighted by the curative results."
New and Indispensable
The Lanthanides have been unknown until now in homeopathy. The pictures had to be ascertained from scratch.
An advantage of the study of the Lanthanides was that I wasn't hindered by previous knowledge. They've become indispensable in my practice in a short time. They have their own and unique picture. And thus curative power.
Hahnemann was very aware of this and expressed it in Aph. 119 of his Organon.
" Every mineral and salt differs from all others, in its external as well as its internal, physical, and chemical properties (which alone should have sufficed to prevent any confounding of one with another). As certainly do they all differ and diverge among themselves in their pathogenetic, consequently also in their therapeutic, effects, so that among them there can be, from a medical point of view, no equivalent remedies whatsoever, no surrogates."
One can conclude from this paragraph that Hahnemann would have been delighted to have the Lanthanides at his disposal. Unfortunately he had to use surrogates!
A good example of the specificity of homeopathic remedies is the Cerium Phosphoricum case: nine months of Praseodymium Phosphoricum gave only palliation and Cerium Phosphoricum cured.
About the author:
Jan Scholten (born 1951)
Jan was born in Helmond, the Netherlands, and since 1985 he has been practicing homeopathy. He has studied with many of the well-known homeopaths: Alphons Geukens, Jost Kunzli, Roger Morrison, Bill Gray and especially George Vithoulkas and Rajan Sankaran.
Jan is famous for being one of homeopathy's pioneers. His is synonymous in homeopathy for the enormous advances and insights he has made with the periodic table and mineral kingdom. This groundbreaking work has been done with the categorization of materia medica into characteristic groups and endeavouring to find their 'essence'. This way of thinking about remedies as having 'essences' was first brought to prominence by George Vithoulkas.
With great clarity and coherence Jan Scholten has brought to light the inner relationships of groups of mineral remedies and then later expanded this to give us a working hypothesis for the whole of the periodic table. Jan's idea of combining two remedy pictures (for example Calcarea and Sulpur) to produce a third and individual picture (Calcarea Sulphuricum) is know a common and popular practice among many homeopaths. Jan's latest contribution to homeopathy is his work on the Lanthanides that yet again takes the reader into previously un-chartered waters.
