Naturopathy Clinical Training

To become and well-rounded Naturopath that fully understands how to put the naturopathic theory into practice it is vital to complete clinical training alongside the Naturopathy study modules. The clinical hours meet the National Occupational Standards for the profession and the requirements of The Society of Naturopaths and General Council and Register of Naturopaths and the World Naturopathic Federation. Clinical studies are achieved through a combination of paper-based case work, clinical observations (included in the course fee), clinical supervision (optional additional expense) and taught sessions.

Clinical studies complement the units of the Naturopathy course, building essential skills to ensure that School of Health graduates have the ability and confidence they need to start working directly with clients. This includes exploring the client-therapist relationship, case taking and progression, approaches to naturopathic prescriptions, safe practise, motivational techniques for compliance, dealing with difficult clients and reflection to improve future practice.

Each Unit also includes a practical case-based assignment, so each time you complete assignments you are considering the client and putting the theory you are learning into clinical practice. Over the duration of the course, you complete at least 10 paper based case studies with full assessment.

The clinical requirements for the Naturopathy course become more in-depth depending on the level of qualification you wish to certificate at and are as follows:

Naturopathy Certificate

  • Attend a minimum of 20 hours live online clinical observation.
  • In-course assessed paper cases (included in the course fees).

Naturopathy Diploma

  • Attend a minimum of 20 hours live online clinical observation.
  • In-course assessed paper cases (included in the course fees).
  • Attend five full days of classroom-based teaching (the Naturopathy Summer School).

Students that wish to register with the General Council and Register of Naturopaths at Naturopathy Diploma level also need to complete One-to-one clinical supervision.

Naturopathy Advanced Diploma

Clinical Supervision Costs

When you are ready to start clinical supervision you enrol onto the clinical supervision module, there is a fee to enrol on the module and this include a supervision overview fee to the School. You also pay your supervisor direct for the one-to-one supervision you will receive. These fees vary depending on how much supervision you require. You will receive money from your clients, this goes towards your clinical supervision fees and will help with some of the costs. Please request the latest fee overview sheet for full details.

Students that graduate at the highest level (Naturopathy Advanced Diploma) will complete over 500 hours of clinical training. This ensures that by the time you graduate you are a confident, competent therapist ready to practice naturopathy and join a register.
