Give the gift of good health
A good night sleep, a happy comfortable tummy, and no hangover!
As the song, My Favorite Things, starts to play through retail sound systems, on Christmas playlists, and over radio waves everywhere, we start to think about our favourite things, and sharing those things with our cherished ones. Sung by Julie Andrews in The Sound of Music, the lyrical list of her favourite things includes such delights as ‘snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes’, ‘brown paper packages tied up with strings’, and ‘doorbells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles’. But what if playing out in the snowflakes or eating too much schnitzel with noodles has given you some festive woes?
Homeopathy can help right those woes and put you back in the mood to keep enjoying ‘cream-colored ponies and crisp apple strudels’. What’s more, if there’s someone on your gift list who struggles with any of these holiday hardships, then having the right remedy on hand might just be the best present of all! After all, what’s better than the gift of good health so you can enjoy sharing all of your favourite things with your loved ones?
Give the Gift of no morning after the night before – Nux Vomica
Fondly known as the ‘hangover remedy’, Nux Vomica can help after any kind of overindulgence, including one too many tipples at the holiday party, or upset tummy after too much indulgent food.
Give the Gift of a sound night’s sleep Christmas Eve – Coffea Cruda
This is a great insomnia remedy if the cause it too much excitement or joy. Although we don’t usually think of joy as something we can have in excess, ailments from joy and excitement can occur, and this remedy can help with that. So, think of it for the children who are so keyed up with joyful anticipation Christmas Eve that they’re still awake into the wee hours.
Give the Gift of happy anticipation of the season’s festivities – Gelsemium
Do you find yourself dreading certain holiday activities or get-togethers? Maybe you enjoy the season, but find yourself looking with trepidation at the December calendar. Gelsemium can help ease anticipatory anxiety before events. Especially if the anticipation is bringing on an urge to wee more often, or an avoidant sleepiness, try Gelsemium and go ahead and face the crowds at the shopping mall, or the extended family dinner with Great Uncle Arthur and his horrible jokes.
Give the Gift of comfort after the feast – Pulsatilla, Lycopodium, or Nux Vomica
Love Christmas, but the big feasts do you in? See if there’s a remedy that can help to ease the digestive distress brought on by over-eating. Think about Pulsatilla or Nux Vomica if too much rich food is the culprit. If there is bloating and a desire to loosen the clothing, or much belching, Lycopodium or Nux Vomica might be the ticket. If over-eating is the cause, Nux Vomica is the one to think of. If there’s much gurgling and rumbling of the belly in the evening, Pulsatilla is the remedy. And if heartburn is the price to pay, Nux Vomica and Lycopodium are worth trying.
Give the Gift of no sniffles after the snowball fight or windy winter walk – Aconite
Whether it’s making snow angels, carolling on a crisp night, or riding in a one-horse open sleigh, if there is onset of illness after being out in the cold air, especially if it’s windy, then Aconite might be your saving grace. Known for the rapid onset of its ailments, whether it’s a cough or the sniffles or sore throat, if a malady comes on after Jack Frost’s been nipping at your nose, see if a dose or two of Aconite can’t nip in in the bud.
